Earth Day 2009

Happy Earth Day fellow citizens.

Flow of Water

This April 22nd, 2009 marks the 39th year of Earth Day, and the initiation of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary/2010 campaign on what has been branded The Green Generation Campaign.

The Green Generation Campaign’s core values are listed as the following based from the Earth Day Network website:

* A carbon-free future based on renewable energy that will end our common dependency on fossil fuels, including coal.

* An individual’s commitment to responsible, sustainable consumption.

* Creation of a new green economy that lifts people out of poverty by creating millions of quality green jobs and transforms the global education system into a green one.

Notice this third core goal - I certainly would like to see a new green economy, and one that truly does create quality jobs and green education. Perhaps this is setting the footsteps in the right direction after all.

I am anticipating over the next decade we will witness and experience some novel turn-about(s) in these areas. Here’s to time will tell . . .
